New system updates
New daemon and web features that we have implemented for easier setup
New features for e-Genda!
Version .5 of the daemon has been setup and now works with the new database. We have recetly made major changes to the database layout. This has caused a major reworking on the website(still in progress) and for the daemon.
New Daemon features are:
- Daemon configuration file to setup logs, database, email, and AIM systems
- Timezones implemented now account for minute differences
- Day Light Saving time support for US time zones only
- Non-US time zones with Day Light Saving Time will not work correctly with the system yet. Due to the complexity of all the world time zones' DST implementation we may not be able to get this done by semester's end.
New Web features are:
- New event input dialog(still in progress)
- New user preference pages
- Allow the user to change time zone information with DST support
- Allow the user to add info such as birthday, address, contact information
- User can now easily manage contact information and have multiple email, cell, and AIM contacts for egenda to send to. For instance, the user can have a work email and a personal email address and have event reminders sent to one account, the other, or both, at the same or event different times.
- Reoccuring events can be completed for each occurance
- Non-reoccuring events with multiple dates can be completed on a per-date basis
Once the web inputs are completed in the next week or two we hope to have basic iCal/vCal support for users who want to subscripe to their e-Genda from iCal or any other vCal supporting software.
NOTE: Initially reminders will not be supported in vCal subscriptions but in the future the user will be able to set atleast 1 reminder to be exported in vCal format.
