Installing e-Genda

by egenda last modified 2006-05-11 01:17 PM

Instructions and notes about installing e-Genda.

Currently e-Genda is still not in the Beta phase of useability yet. However This page will have instructions and notes requarding the installation of the e-Genda system.

Things that you will need for the current version of e-Genda are: ite Layout

The site layout starts with the config.php page. This page defines database access and routing locations . The routing locations were put into place so that the application can be changed immediately for what ever URL you want the site to redirect to upon login. In the future we will post more information as we prepare to release a version one can install.

  • Unix, Linux, or Windows (as long as you can run apache and python)
  • Apache 2.0
  • Php5
  • Python 2.3+
  • Libgmail libraries for daemon email access
  • libxml and libxm2 python libraries for daemon
  • MySQL (version comming soon)
  • An AIM screen name if you plan on using the AIM bot portion of the daemon.
  • A Gmail account for sending reminders (currently no other method has been created)

Right now there is no installer for e-Genda. The install process has not been created and when we get closer to a beta release we will post directions and notes on installation.

Future version of e-Genda will probably offer the user a choice to use a bult-in SMPT server to send email reminders or libgmail to use gmail as your email service. This will allow users who have a registered domain to send emails from their domain. Currently using Gmail to send the reminders generally allows the reminders to bypass spam filters since the sending IP is seen as comming from a "trusted source" of email.
